US reaffirms its confidence in security of Pakistan's nuclear assets

WASHINGTON: The United States has reaffirmed its confidence in security of Pakistan’s nuclear assets and said that Islamabad is well aware of its responsibilities in this regard.

“The United States is confident that Pakistan is well aware of its responsibilities with respect to nuclear security and has secured its nuclear arsenal accordingly,” the US State Department said in a statement in Washington.

The US State Department said that that during the last week US-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue in Washington‚ Secretary of State John Kerry had appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to improve its strategic trade controls.

It further said that Kerry also recognized that Pakistan is fully engaged with the international community on nuclear safety and security issues.
