Government of PakistanUS-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor to produce 10,000 PhDs: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform, Ahsan Iqbal Thursday said the US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor, the most important initiative taken in decades-long strategic relations between the two countries, would prove a milestone for promotion of higher education in Pakistan.

During a meeting with a US university delegation here, he said, the US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor would help Pakistan to produce 10,000 PhD scholars in the next 10 years.

He said, the country faces shortage in quality human resource to meet growing needs of expanding universities network in the country.

The Minister said, the history has proved that Pak-US relations continued to strengthen despite ups and down.

In the past, the relations between two countries were restricted to the areas of strategic cooperation and security, adding, but now, these relations have entered from geo-strategic cooperation to geo economic collaboration.

Pakistan, he said, is a first country whom parliament has adopted a unanimous resolution to achieve targets for sustainable development.

Ahsan Iqbal said, the Vision 2025 provided a roadmap for achievement of targets set for sustainable development in the country.

He said, the world nations would have to further promote mutual cooperation to deal the challenge of poverty, economic imbalance and social injustice.
