North AmericaUS noncommittal on ‘unverified’ Osama report

WASHINGTON: The United States has ruled out comment on the Abbottabad Commission report of Pakistan, which was established in the aftermath of the killing of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, observing that this is “unverified“.

“We have seen the leaked version of the media coverage of the report, but we’re not going to comment on an unverified, allegedly leaked version of this,” State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters at her daily news conference.

The State Department spokesperson was responding to questions on the report, a leaked copy of which has been posted by Al Jazeera on its website.

Psaki said the US is having an online dialogue with Pakistan on a range of issues and US Secretary of State John Kerry is looking forward to his Pakistan visit.

“We have an ongoing dialogue with Pakistan about a range of issues — everything from energy to counterterrorism; that will continue. This is important both for the American people and the Pakistani people,” she said.

“The Secretary is looking forward, at some point, to visiting; I don’t have any updates on that at this point, however,” Psaki said.
