US describes Iran nuclear talks as constructive, useful

WASHINGTON: The United States has described the nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers in the Austrian capital Vienna as “constructive and useful.”

In a statement, the US State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said that the Vienna talks, aimed at reaching a final and permanent agreement on Tehran’s disputed nuclear program, are making progress. Harf said that during the talks negotiators discussed both process and substance.

On Wednesday, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told the official IRNA news agency that the involved parties have agreed on a framework and will hold a new round of talks from March 17 to 20 in Vienna.

The negotiators from Iran and the six world powers including the US‚ France‚ Germany‚ Britain‚ China and Russia have been meeting since Tuesday in Vienna to hammer out an agenda for reaching final settlement to the decade-old standoff over Tehran’s atomic activities.
