RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The incoming Commander United States Central Command (US CENTCOM) General Joseph L. Votel held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the meeting, the two sides held a discussion regarding matters of mutual and professional interests with special emphasis on security situation in Afghanistan.
The visiting dignitary lauded the role of Pakistan Army for bringing peace and stability in the region.
The Director General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar and DG ISPR Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa were also present on the occasion.
Earlier on arrival at the general headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary.
General Joseph L. Votel also laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e- Shuhada to pay homage to Pakistan Army Shuhada.
