ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ukraine on Monday expressed readiness to extend cooperation in promoting agriculture and education sectors in Pakistan.

“Pakistan and Ukraine enjoy strong friendship bonds in the sectors like, trade, economic, military, technical education and culture sectors and we are ready to promote it in the fields of agriculture and education,” Ambassador of Ukraine to Pakistan Volodymyr Lakomov said.

Both the countries were enjoying strong ties and taking further steps to increase the current volume of bilateral business and trade that were affected in the aftermath of Russian aggression, he said in an exclusive talk with APP here.

He said that Pakistan and Ukraine had always been supporting each other at the international as well as regional fora and this gesture of goodwill would continue to flourish in future.

Volodymyr said that he recently visited the Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to enhance bilateral collaborations with special regard to the business and trade sectors.

“We are actively pursuing to enhance the bilateral collaborations at people to people level in various spheres of life,” he said.

Referring details about his visit to comparatively smaller Chamber, the envoy said the purpose of his visit to Sahiwal was to attract maximum people especially of less-resourced areas to the main stream of bilateral trade and business.

“We are making efforts to apprise Pakistani business community about the potential of investment in various sectors in Ukraine.”

Apprising about the open visa regime of Ukraine, he said that Pakistani businessmen could get business visas without any hurdle while the Ukrainian authorities would extend all possible facilities to the visitors.

The ambassador informing about the recent meeting of Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Pavlo Klimkin with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz held in China, he said that both the leaders discussed promotion of Ukrainian-Pakistani cooperation in trade and economic, military and technical, educational and cultural spheres.

The two sides, he said, had agreed to intensify political dialogues between two states adding that both sides were agreed to focus on enhancing cooperation between Ukrainian and Pakistani based business and trade organizations.

Pavlo Klimkin laid emphasis on Ukraine’s interest in expanding of cooperation with Asian countries on bilateral and multilateral basis terming it as valuable contribution to security and prosperity of this region, the ambassador added.

He said Ukraine was determined to double the existing trade volume with Pakistan, bringing it to $ one billion mark per annum.
