KARACHI, Pakistan: Unidentified armed men opened fire on a vehicle of Pakistan army in Saddar area of Karachi on Tuesday afternoon which resulted in martyrdom of two soldiers.
In a short press release issued on Tuesday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that two army soldiers Lance Naik Razzand and Sepoy Khadim embraced Shahadat in a terrorist attack on a military vehicle which was on routine duty near Karachi’s Saddar Parking Plaza.
The ISPR also released pictures of both the deceased soldiers.
Earlier talking to media, the Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi Mushtaq Mahar informed about the attack and said that a personnel of security forces embraced martyrdom on the spot while the other sustained injuries and was taken to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he died during treatment.
The Emergency Director at JPMC Dr. Seemi Jamali said that two personnel were brought from Saddar Parking area. She said that one had expired on the spot whereas the other succumbed to his injuries during treatment at JPMC.
Sources said that terrorists were riding a motorbike and they fled away after the attack.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on security personnel in Karachi.
In their separate messages, they prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.
The prime minister said that “We will not allow these terrorists to derail the ongoing operation for restoration of peace in Karachi.”
