RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Turkey’s Minister of National Defence Fikri Isik held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday.

In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the meeting, matters of mutual interest including regional security and defence collaboration came under discussion.Turkey’s Minister of National Defence Fikri Isik and General Raheel Sharif

The Turkish defence minister appreciated Pakistan army’s accomplishments in anti-terror operation Zarb-e-Azb and contributions towards regional peace and stability.

The meeting took place a few days after General Raheel Sharif visited turkey and witnessed multinational military exercises “EFES” near Izmir.

The COAS, during his tour, also held a meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which the latter praised Pakistan army’s achievements in the war on terror and its role to bring peace and stability in the region.
