ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has finalized traffic plan during religious procession of 8th and 9th Muharram ul Haram to facilitate the motorists in the federal capital.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) ITP, Matloob Ahmed chaired a meeting here that was attended by SP Khalid Rashid, all DSPs and other officials of traffic police department to finalize the traffic plan for 8th and 9th Muharram.

The main religious procession of 8th Muharram would start from Jamia Murtaza G-9/4 and end up at Jamia Imam Sadiq G-9/2.

During the procession in sector G-9, street No. 54 I&T centre, Zulifqar Chowk, Khokhar Turn, Project Mor, G-9 turn Kashmir Highway, G-10 Double Road, G-10/3-4 chowk, G-9/2 Street 16, Street 11 and Khuram Road would be closed. The traffic would be given an alternate route.

Likewise, the main procession of 9th Muharram would start from G/6-2 and end up at the same place after passing through the defined route.

During the procession, Kalsoom Plaza Fazl e Haq Road, Post Office Chowk, 7th Avenue loop, 7th Avenue G-7/4, G-6/2 Chowk Iqbal Hall, Lal Masjid Chowk, GPO Chowk, street No: 14 sector G-6/2 would be closed for general traffic and citizens would be guided toward alternate roads.

The ITP had deployed extra personnel to guide the motorists about the alternate roads and ensure clearance of processions’ routes. Traffic diversion signs would also be displayed on roads to guide motorists.

According to the plan parking of vehicles were banned in way of processions and alternate roads have been specified to facilitate the citizens.
