Three-member special court asked to initiate treason case against Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Thursday submitted a petition in the special court to initiate treason proceedings against former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

The petition which was submitted in the office of the registrar of special court in Islamabad stated that a case may be initiated against the former military ruler under article 6 for subverting the constitution while imposing the emergency and Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) on November 3, 2007.

The three-member special court set up to try Musharraf for treason under article 6 of the constitution includes Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court as the head of the special court and Justice Tahira Safdar of the Balochistan High Court and Justice Yawar Ali of the Lahore High Court.
