Three killed as rain continues to lash parts of country

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As heavy rain continues across the country, at least three persons including a minor girl have been killed and several others injured in rain-related incidents in Punjab on Monday.

The sources said that the roof of a house collapsed near Shahdara in Lahore that left two persons dead while a minor girl was killed in another roof collapse incident in Gujranwala.

Likewise, several people were injured in Wah Cant where a plaza collapsed.

Meanwhile, the flood warning was issued while army was put high alert to meet any emergency situation as water level raised to a dangerous level in Rawalpindi’s Nullah Leh.

Widespread rain continues across country

The widespread rain is continuing in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA), Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In an interview, the Chief Meteorologist Islamabad Dr. Ghulam Rasul said that heavy rains in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and the adjoining areas will continue throughout night while it will decrease by tomorrow morning. He said that weather will remain cloudy till Wednesday.

The sources said that so far 90 millimeters rain in Islamabad, 85 Rawalpindi and 50 millimeters in Murree has been recorded.

More rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Malakand, Hazara and Peshawar divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
