ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) alone has managed 513 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) in all Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which five precious lives were lost and 377 victims were seriously injured whereas 219 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.
These 513 accidents affected 87 pedestrians; 309 passengers and 228 drivers. Some 142 RTAs took place in Lahore placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 41 in Faisalabad, 29 in Multan and 24 in Gujranwala.
According to the statistics collected by Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 513 RTA’s victims, 486 were males and 136 females, while age group of the victims show that 101 were under 18 year of age, 394 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 127 victims were reported above 40 years.
The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included motorbikes, auto rickshaws, motor cars, tractors, passenger buses, trucks, slow moving vehicles and other types of auto vehicles.
