The Taron are a small ethnic group in the Himalayan foothills of northern Burma (Myanmar) whose population is declining to the point where they are in danger of disappearing entirely. They have been referred to as the “Asian pygmies”.
Like the Pygmies of Central Africa and the Negritos of Southeast Asia, the Tarons are very small, averaging less than 4 feet and 3 inches (139.5 cm). Their population is declining every passing day and they are left only 10, according to information come to dispatch News Desk (DND).

Why their population is going down?

The strange thing about this is that Tarons have opted to disappear from world by themselves  because at some point in time, most of Taron babies were born with congenital mental defects. Leaders of the tribe decided that they no longer want to risk mentally-handicapped children. Therefore, they have a ban on having children, and even marriage. Now they are only on 10 in population and and soon the whole culture will disappear from the face of the earth, because they have chosen to this fate.
