Suicide blast targets NATO convoy in Kabul, three soldiers killed

KABUL, Afghanistan: A suicide blast occurred targeting a convoy of US-led forces near the US embassy in Kabul on Tuesday morning, killing at least three soldiers and injuring 13 Afghan civilians.

It was a car bomb “targeting a foreign forces convoy along the airport road,” the chief of the city’s police investigation department Farid Afzali said.

“We can confirm three International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) members died as a result of an enemy attack in Kabul today,” the NATO coalition said in a statement.

The blast also caused damage to 17 civilian cars parked nearby.

The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for the attack via a recognized Twitter account.
