PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A Frontier Corps (FC) Major was martyred while four security personnel suffered injuries in a suicide blast in Hayatabad area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Capital on Monday morning.

Security sources said that the blast took place near Bagh-e-Naran in Hayatabad area of Peshawar where a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle struck a convoy of security forces.

Security sources said that the FC personnel were traveling to FC headquarters in Qila Bala Hisar when their vehicles were targeted.

Resultantly, FC Major Jamal Sheran embraced martyred whereas four other security personnel were injured.

The dead body and injured were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar.

Sources said that the blast also caused damage to two vehicles which were part of the FC convoy.

Earlier it was reported that FC vehicles were hit by a bomb planted alongside the road, causing casualties.

Last Monday, two Frontier Constabulary (FC) men were martyred and five got injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) blast went off in Lakka Tegga area of Kurram agency.

Later on Friday, a major terror bid was foiled as two suicide bombers were killed when they were trying to enter a Frontier Constabulary Check Post in Landi Kotal area of Khyber agency. However, two FC personnel sustained injuries while repulsing the attack.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
