Security forces continue operations against Taliban despite ceasefire: TTP

ISLAMABAD: The outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has said that despite a month-long ceasefire agreed by it and the government earlier this month, the security forces continue operations, arrests and torture of its members.

In a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, the TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that raids, arrests and torture of prisoners are a violation of the ceasefire.

The TTP spokesman said that search operations and mortar shelling continue in Mohmand tribal region whereas several members of the banned outfit have been arrested in Karachi, Swabi, Charsadda and Peshawar.

In addition, Shahid said that the TTP has no link with the Ahrarul Hind and Jundullah militant organisations. He said that there are several elements within the government ranks which are affecting dialogue process.
