Security agencies blame KPK LEAs for PAF Camp Peshawar attack

Recent PostSecurity agencies blame KPK LEAs for PAF Camp Peshawar attack

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The security agencies have expressed their annoyance over non-cooperation and ineffectiveness of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s law enforcement agencies (lEAs) which led to yet another attack by terrorists in Peshawar on Friday.

Earlier in the day, at least 33 people including Pakistan Army’s Captain Asfandyar Bukhari and 13 terrorists were killed when a group of terrorists attacked the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Camp in Peshawar’s Badabair area.

The security agencies are of the view that a massive intelligence failure caused the attack on PAF Comp in Badabair. They say that there was no intelligence report whatsoever regarding the latest attack by terrorists.

They say that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police (Special Branch) and Crime Investigation Department (CID) have totally been ineffective and lack professionalism.

In addition, the security agencies say that the provincial LEAs have not conducted any operation against terrorists or suspected persons in urban and settled areas of the province. Even the LEAs seem reluctant to share any information about the operations they carried out against terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the Pakistan Army.

The security agencies say that the anti-terror plan of action (NAP) was initiated across the country in January 2015 following the Peshawar Army Public school attack but its implementation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as compared to other provinces has not been satisfactory.

They said, for instance, the performance of Sindh LEAs to implement the national action plan has been worth admiring as they have conducted as many as 9,958 raids and 844 search operations across the province since the launch of NAP.

In those operations, a total of 343 terrorists were killed and 370 were arrested by the Sindh LEAs. Moreover, the law enforcement agencies also seized explosives weighing 1500 kilograms besides a large variety of 5,223 weapons.
