SC upholds order about production of Musharraf March 31, Justice Faisal Arab to remain part of special court

ISLAMABAD: The special court formed to try former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf for high treason on Thursday ruled that its earlier order for the government to arrest and produce Musharraf if he refused to appear before it on March 31 on his own remained intact.

Moreover, the court also clarified that Justice Faisal Arab had not disassociated himself from the case but rather had just walked out of court for the day (Thursday).

Earlier it was reported, that Justice Faisal Arab, who is the head of the three-member bench of the special court, excused from hearing the case any further.

During today’s proceedings of the case, Musharraf’s counsel Anwar Mansoor said that the court had accepted that his client was facing security risks. The court also granted exemption to his client from appearance, he added.

Musharraf’s counsel continuing his arguments further said that the court issued non-bailable warrants for Musharraf, adding that act of issuing warrant is not a joke. He said that that he is not satisfied with the way the case is being processed.

Later, the hearing of the case was adjourned till March 31.
