KARACHI, Pakistan: The famous Qawwal Amjad Sabri lost his life on Wednesday after unknown assailants shot him in Liaquatabad area of Karachi.
Talking to media, the Additional Inspector General Mushtaq Mehar said that two unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at a car carrying Qawwal Amjad Sabri and his associate in Liaquatabad area.
Subsequently, both Amjad Sabri and his associate received serious injuries and were immediately taken to Abbasi Shaheed hospital in Karachi for medical treatment. But Amjad Sabri could not survive and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
The police said that Qawwal Amjad Sabri received bullets in his head and chest. The motive of his killing was not known yet.
However, the Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial told media that three persons were killed including Amjad Sabri when their vehicle was targeted in Liaquatabad area.
The Home Minister took notice of the firing incident and summoned a high-level meeting of police officials on Thursday. He also directed the Inspector General of Police and Additional Inspector General to submit a report regarding the attack on Amjad Sabri.
The famous media personality and Chairman Sindh Censor Board Fakhre Alam said in a tweet that Amjad Sabri had sought security for himself but was not provided as per his demand.

The Sindh Assembly session was adjourned after the news of Amjad Sabri’s murder surfaced while the provincial Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said that Amjad Sabri’s murder was carried out in a bid to deteriorate the law and order situation in Karachi.
The 45-year-old Amjad Sabri was the son of renowned Qawwal Ghulam Farid Sabri.

In a statement, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
The prime minister directed the concerned to find the culprits behind this attack and bring them to book.
Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to the services of late Amjad Sabri for promotion of Qawwali in the country and said he would be immensely missed in times ahead.

over the murder of Amjad Sabri.
