Record 867,226 people vaccinated in Pakistan in single day

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In a positive sign, a record 867,226 people were vaccinated as a preemptive measure against COVID-19 on July 29 across Pakistan.

So far, a total of 28,743,225 people have been vaccinated against the infection in the Country.


In the last 24 hours, a further 4,537 Coronavirus Cases were reported and 86 people died of the virus across the Country.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said that 58,203 people were tested on July 29 and 7.79% of them returned positive, showing an upward trend.

With the latest figures, now the number of infected persons and fatalities in the Country has reached 1,024,861 and 23,295 respectively.

However, 938,843 people have now recovered from the disease, according to the NCOC’s data.

Meanwhile, in its meeting held on Friday morning, the NCOC critically reviewed the Coronavirus spread in Karachi and decided to take all possible measures to assist the Sindh government in combating the rising trend of disease.

The measures being undertaken by the federal government include ramp up of critical care capacity including oxygenated beds and ventilators, availability of oxygen and deployment of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) for implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs).
