MULTAN: Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that he is ready to face all cases in courts against him, adding that he might be the first political prisoner of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government.
Earlier, police delivered the notice issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to former premier at his residence in Multan to appear before the investigation team of the anti-corruption body for his alleged involvement in the multi-billion-rupee National Investment Corporation Limited (NICL) scam.
The NAB had asked police to produce former premier before the investigation team over his alleged involvement in the NICL scam on Friday (today).
Talking to media representatives at his residence on Friday after receiving a notice from the NAB, the former premier said that he is not afraid of any notices. He said that he is ready to face any court, adding that it seems he will be the first political prisoner of the incumbent government.
The former premier maintained that he has always followed the constitution during his stint as prime minister, adding if the government decides to put him in jail then one day Nawaz Sharif himself will go to jail.
Gilani claimed that only he is being victimized under the garb of accountability, saying everyone should be held accountable not just him. He said that it appears the government wants him behind bars ahead of the local government elections in Punjab.
