Rasheed urges media to exercise freedom with utmost responsibility

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for information Pervaiz Rasheed has called for exercising freedom of media with utmost responsibility to protect national interests.

Talking to newsmen in Islamabad, the information minister said that consultations are in progress with all media bodies to establish an independent institution to implement the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) rules and regulations.

The minister asked the cable operators to work within the ambit of law and avoid blocking or suspending telecast of any media channel of their own.

Rasheed said that there are independent institutions in the country to decide different issues and to do justice with the aggrieved parties. He said that street justice system will not be allowed at any cost.
