ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP)’s Senator and former Interior Minister Abdul Rehman Malik Tuesday said the issue of extension in Rangers’ powers in Karachi would be resolved soon.
Sindh government didn’t want to send back Rangers busy in operation against terrorists in the biggest city of the country, however, saying the provincial government just wanted to regularize an old requisition for this purpose.
Talking about Army Public School (APS) Peshawar incident on December 16 last year, Abdul Rehman paid great homage to the martyred of incident.
He urged all parties to demonstrate unity and prepare a strategy to resolve their issues with the consensus.
He said government should set its priorities with consultation of all political leadership and National Action Plan (NAP) must be implemented in letter and spirit to curb the menace of terrorism in the country.
To a question, former Interior Minister said Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj had expressed willingness to resolve all outstanding issues between neighboring countries through dialogue. She also gave sign to include core issue of Kashmir in dialogue, he added.
He said he had personally asked the Indian Foreign Minister to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the resolution of United Nations (UN). But unfortunately Indian High Commissioner had claimed that the Foreign Minister of his country had given statement regarding the Azad Jamu Kashmir.
Malik urged the Foreign Office to take the matter seriously and give meaningful answer.
Talking about establishment of an Anti-terrorism force of Islamic countries, he said this is need of hour to effectively fight against extremism and the western countries should also support it.
He said Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) should also establish an Interpol so that no terrorist could get shelter anywhere in the world.
International powers should make hard strike against Islamic States of Syria and Iraq (ISIS), which had emerged as major threat to world peace, PPP Senator maintained.
He said he had wrote to UN about the rise of “ISIS few year back” but unfortunately the issue was not taken up timely.
