ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Holy month of Ramazan will begin on Friday across Pakistan except some parts of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal region where people are observing fasting today (Thursday).
Last night, the Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Munibur Rehman announced after presiding over a meeting of the committee in Karachi that Ramazan moon had not been sighted anywhere in Pakistan, therefore the first of Ramazan mubarak would be on Friday.
However, people in Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi Bannu, Mohmand, Bajour and some part of Khyber agency are observing fasting today after Mufti Shahabuddin Populzai at the Qasim Ali Khan mosque in Peshawar announced the beginning of Ramazan on Wednesday night.
Mufti Shahabuddin said that they had received 10 witnesses of moon sighting from various areas.
Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy in Islamabad on Thursday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to ensure hassle free power supply at ‘Iftar’ and ‘Sehr’ during Ramazan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
