ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A meeting of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Parliamentary Board chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday nominated Raja Farooq Haider as the next prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting convened by Nawaz Sharif as head of the PML-N was attended by federal PML-N leadership and the newly-elected members of AJK’s Legislative Assembly at the PM House in Islamabad.

In his address on the occasion, the prime minister said that Pakistan will continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle to the right of self determination. He said that our hearts beat with the Kashmiri people and we will always stand shoulder to shoulder with them.

The prime minister said Pakistan will continue to effectively highlight the Kashmir issue on internal fora. He said taht it is the basic right of the Kashmiris that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved in according to the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Nawaz Sharif also congratulated the newly elected members of AJK assembly and AJK Prime Minister.

In a statement after being nominated as AJK new Prime Minister, Raja Farooq Haider said that he will come up to the confidence of the Party leadership. He said that his agenda will be merit, good governance and zero tolerance for corruption.

The PML-N is all set to form a government in AJK following last week’s landslide victory. The party had swept the general elections for the 49-seat AJK Legislative Assembly, bagging 31 seats and a clear majority.
