ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Railways police have devised a security plan to protect special trains, railway stations and its tracks to evade any untoward incident during Eid-ul-Fitr.

“The Railways police have directed the concerned authorities to strictly check the passengers baggage and cargo before train departures at every railway station across the country,” official sources in the Ministry of Railways told the state-run news agency.

They said the decision was taken on the directives of Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique as the department had arranged special trains in country to meet the extra rush of passengers.

Pakistan Railways has enhanced the security measures with the help of the provincial governments and local police to avoid any untoward incident, they added.

They said the pedestrian railway teams will also patrol the railways tracks whereas commandos have also been deployed at various stations to ensure security of passengers.

“Special instructions have been issued to all railway police superintendents for tight security to avoid any untoward incident across the country,” they added.

Pakistan Railways have deputed sufficient force on the exit and entry points of all stations and strict watch be carried out over suspicious persons.

To a question, they said the commando force is deputed at sensitive areas and in the trains. Bomb Disposal staff will also be on duty for checking of luggage and passengers at all stations.

All the SP Railways are directed to conduct complete check and search the empty rakes before stationed at the platforms and will be present during Eid holidays who will randomly check the trains, stations and escorting staff, they added.

They urged people to inform police on observing any unattended luggage or shady person on railway station and their surroundings.
