ISLAMABAD:  Chinese and Qatari companies will jointly install four coal-based power plants in Pakistan which will generate 2‚600 megawatts cheap electricity, helping the energy crises-hit country to meets its acute shortage of electricity.

This was stated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while talking to the delegations of China and Qatar in Islamabad.

The prime minister said that two projects‚ each one of 660 MW‚ would be set up at Gaddani and two at Port Qasim. He said for the time being imported coal would be used in the projects till Pakistan’s coal was ready for mining.

Moreover, the prime minister assured full support and assistance to China and Qatar to get these projects commissioned as quickly as possible.
