PTI wants unrest in the country: Nisar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership wants to create unrest in the country, repeating one of allegations being leveled against Imran Khan-led party since last year.

“PTI is wasting the time of nation” the minister said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The interior minister said that the confrontation in every situation is not suitable for Pakistan.

The minister said that the PTI should learn to accept defeat as the Pakistan Muslim league League-Nawaz (PML-N) federal government accepted all demands of the PTI.

Nisar urged the PTI leadership to follow democratic norms and not to resort to adopting undemocratic ways.

No change made in voters list after August 26

Moreover, the minister said that the vote of a citizen cannot be transferred without his application. He said that no change was made in voters list after August 26.

The minister said that the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) is not a PML-N’s institution rather it is a national institution.

Nisar said that as compared to 2013 election, 25,929 voters were increased in NA-122 constituency.

His remarks came in an apparent reference to Imran Khan’s accusation in which he said that votes of PTI supporters cast in Sunday’s NA-122 by-election were thrown out in last minutes.

On Tuesday, the PTI Candidate Aleem Khan submitted an application to the Returning Office (RO), seeking recounting of votes in NA-122. However his request was rejected by the RO. The RO directed Aleem Khan to approach the Election Tribunal in this regard.

The PTI’s Aleem Khan lost to former Speaker National Assembly and the PML-N Candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in NA-122 by-election by a thin margin. Sadiq secured 74,525 votes while Aleem Kahn bagged 72,082 votes.

Since last year when the PTI launched the ‘Azadi March’ towards Islamabad and later staged a 126-day long sit-in, the party is constantly being accused of bringing turbulence and fulfilling the hidden agency of some internal as well as external powers.

Just prior to the holding of by-elections in Lahore and Okara, the PTI was again brought under severe criticism for allegedly taking funds from Jews and Indians.
