ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has postponed its planned rally in Islamabad on October 4, and decided that it would hold a public gathering in Lahore on October 9.

PTI postpones Islamabad rally, announces Jalsa in Lahore on October 9

In a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday after the PTI’s Central Organizing Committee meeting, the party Chief Imran Khan made the announcement in this regard.

The venue was changed after the Islamabad administration did not allow the PTI to go ahead with its plan of holding rally in front of the Parliament House as holding processions and public gatherings are currently prohibited in the Red Zone.

The PTI’s rally was aimed at pressuring the four members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to step down after their negligence in conducting flawless elections was proved. The party had also announced to hold a sit-in in front of the ECP building in Islamabad on October 4.

However addressing the media in Islamabad today, Imran Khan said that the party would decide about holding the sit-in in Islamabad after October 11 by-elections.

Imran Khan also announced to launch campaign for NA-122 Lahore by-election tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court stayed the upcoming by-polls in Lodhran’s NA-154 constituency and restored the National Assembly membership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Siddique Baloch.

Imran said that the PML-N took stay order in NA-154 due to the fear of defeat against the PTI leader Jehangir Tareen.

The PTI Chief said that the Election Tribunal in its verdict announced on August 26 clearly stated that Siddique Baloch had been proved to be an illiterate and uneducated person.
