PTI expresses disappointment over draft for judicial commission

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed disappointment over the draft presented by the federal government regarding formation of the Judicial Commission to investigate the alleged rigging in 2013 general elections.

In a statement, the PTI general secretary Jehangir Tareen said that the government did not include points in the draft which were agreed upon earlier.

Jehangir Tareen said that the draft has been amended accordingly, and sent back to the attorney general Salman Aslam Butt.

On Thursday, the PTI leader Arif Alvi was reported to have claimed that negotiating teams of the federal government and the PTI had reached agreement on constitution of a judicial commission to probe the rigging charges in the 2013 general elections.

The PTI leader told media that both sides had agreement on constitution of judicial commission, adding that the agreement would also be shared with other mainstream political parties.

However, on other hand, a senior leader in ruling the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) expressed his ignorance about any such agreement with the PTI.

The PML-N senior leader said that the matter would likely be resolved soon when both sides would sit across the table to finalize modalities of inquiry into the rigging charges.
