LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday challenged Punjab Local Government Act 2013 in Lahore High Court, seeking local body elections on a party basis.

The petitioner in his petition stated that the newly passed Punjab Local Government Act 2013 was unconstitutional because holding local body polls on non-party basis is violation of human rights.

He also prayed that several clauses of the newly approved act were unconstitutional, and aimed at rendering the Local Bodies system ineffective.
