ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim said on Tuesday that no party should have boycotted the presidential election; however, he said it would make no difference to the credibility of the election.

While announcing the result of the president elections, the CEC said that as many as 1174 exercised their right to vote in the presidential election, adding that for the first time, the president was elected in a democratic manner.

The CEC said that Mamnoon Hussain of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been elected the President of Pakistan by securing 432 votes.

He said that Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmad of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has secured 77 electoral votes.

To a question, the chief election commissioner said that no party should have boycotted the elections. He, however, said that it would make no difference to the credibility of the elections.
