ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has banned President Asif Ali Zardari from leaving the country, making it sure that the President remains present during the court hearing on the Abbottabad Commission revelations.

The apex court has barred the President from leaving the country over the investigations to be held on the Abbottabad operation conducted by the United States on May 2, 2011 to kill Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

According to reports, the apex court has issued a notice to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government to bar President Zardari, who will be completing his presidential tenure on September 8, from leaving the country.

Moreover, the court has also constituted a two-member bench under the supervision of Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and set a date for the hearing of the case on September 3, 2013.

Earlier, the Abbottabad Commission report revealed the incompetency of the government to track the hide-out of the world’s most wanted militant, Osama bin Laden. The US Navy Commando team conducted a two-hour operation to kill bin Laden on the soil of Pakistan without the government knowing about it.
