ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday expressed the resolve that the government would not be distracted from its agenda of progress and vowed to vigorously complete development projects in the country.

The two leaders “called upon all to cooperate with the government in completing development agenda and maintain stability in the country,” a press release from the Presidency said.

“The Government has ensured transparency and judicious use of public money while implementing various development projects and has followed zero tolerance policy for corruption,” the press release said.

The President and the Prime Minister, who met here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, also expressed their commitment to vigorously pursue the development projects to usher prosperity in the country and improve standard of living of the people.

The Prime Minister exchanged views on matters of national importance and discussed the overall situation in the country including the pace of development projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Expressing satisfaction at the pace of implementation of CPEC projects, they expressed the hope that completion of these projects will be a game changer not only for Pakistan but for the entire region. They expressed the belief that the landmark project would benefit the whole country.

They also discussed the ongoing energy projects, law and order situation and revitalization of national economy and operation Zarb-e-Azb.

The Prime Minister briefed the President on policies and decisions of the government on various issues.

The President commended the Prime Minister and his economic team for reviving the national economy through sound policy initiatives, the press release said.

The leaders reviewed the regional situation and reiterated Pakistan’s desire for friendly ties with all the neighboring countries for peace and prosperity in the region.

They underscored the need for national unity and cohesion to confront and overcome the challenges being faced by Pakistan and to put the country on the path to progress and prosperity.

President Mamnoon and Prime Minister Sharif also reviewed the progress of Zarb-e-Azb operation and expressed satisfaction at the successes achieved and reaffirmed that the operation would continue till elimination of the last terrorist from the country.

The two leaders lauded the immense sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and law enforcement personnel in fight against terrorism and extremism. It was resolved that the National Action Plan (NAP) would be implemented in all areas of the country to restore complete peace.
