ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko arrived in Islamabad on Thursday on two-day official visit to Pakistan which will help in strengthening the existing ties between the two countries.
His first ever visit as a Belarusian president to Pakistan was undertaken at the invitation of his Pakistani Counterpart President Mamnoon Hussain.
The Belarusian president was welcomed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at Nur Khan Airbase, and was presented 21-gun salute as his plane landed at the airbase.
During the visit, the Belarusian president will hold meetings with his Pakistani counterpart and the prime minister. A number of important agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed between the two countries during the visit.
President Lukashenko was scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on May 26 but later his visit was delayed for two days due to death of his mother.
