MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the United Nations to fulfil its promises regarding the Kashmir issue for durable peace in South Asia.

While addressing a joint session of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly and Kashmir Council in Muzaffarabad on Saturday, the president said that the Kashmir issue cannot be resolved without giving right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir.

The president said that if the UN resolutions and the Indian promises regarding Kashmir issue are not honoured peace remains elusive in the region.

President Mamnoon said that India must withdraw long imposed curfew in the occupied territory and revive the freedom of expression. He said that the human rights groups should also be given access to the territory and detained innocent Kashmiris be released.

Mamnoon Hussain said that the martyrdom of Burhan Wani has infused a new spirit into the freedom movement, and freedom is not too far.

The president said that Pakistan will never leave the Kashmiris alone in their struggle for the just cause, and it will continue moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris. He also paid rich tributes to the Kashmiris who sacrificed their lives for freedom.
