BusinessPresident Mamnoon urges traders, industrialists to help augment exports

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the traders and industrialists to help strengthen the country’s economy and augment exports by striving to grab their due share in the international market.

He said the investors, besides helping to augment the country’s exports, can also enhance their dividends by benefitting from the government’s prudent economic policies.

The President expressed these views while addressing a ceremony organized under the auspices of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday night.

Besides the traders and entrepreneurs, the ceremony was attended Minister for Commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastgir, Governor Punjab, Muhammad Rafique Rajwana and a large number of diplomats.

The President said after a phase of economic down-slide due to conflicts in the region and terrorism, the situation has now changed as the backbone of terrorists has been broken and peace was being restored.

This changed situation has not only led to increase in trade activities but also restored the confidence of investors, he added.

The President said the international institutions were also endorsing improvement in Pakistan’s economy.

He said as Pakistan was the only country in the region which allowed 100 percent equity on investment, the local and foreign investors can benefit from these policies and reap the dividends.

The President said the country’s traders should also adjust their policies with the changed international trading environment and besides the traditional markets should also explore new markets and trade partners.

In this respect, he said there was a need of focusing on the countries of Africa, Central Asia and Far East, whose economies were growing fast.

The President said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will open new opportunities and traders and industrialists should benefit from them.

The President stressed that it was high time to recompense the recent decrease in the exports of the country so that the business community can earn optimum dividends.

Acting President of LCCI Almas Hyder also addressed the ceremony.
