PPP to contest for PM slot

Elections 2013PPP to contest for PM slot

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim said on Monday that PPP would contest the election for Prime Minister by putting up its own candidate.

The election for PM is scheduled to take place on June 5.

Talking to media representatives in front of Parliament House, Fahim said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) approached PPP, urging it to support their candidates for the elections of speaker and prime minister.

“The party accepted the request for the speaker’s election but rejected the other request for supporting Nawaz Sharif to be elected as prime minister,” he said.

The PPP leader said that all the parties have their own ideology and stance on issues and they are free to make their own decisions for all offices under contest including the PM slot.
