Political parties nominate their representatives for action plan committee

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The political parties have nominated their representatives for the committee which would formulate a national plan of action against terrorism.

The committee will hold its first meeting in Islamabad at 4:00 pm on Friday under the chairmanship of the federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated Shireen Mazari, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has nominated Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, the Awami National Party (ANP) has nominated Afrasiyab Khattak and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated Senator Rehman Malik.

Likewise, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has nominated Akram Durrani, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has nominated Farid Paracha, the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) has nominated Anisa Tahir Kheli while the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has proposed names of Dr Farooq Sattar and Senator Babar Ghauri for the national action plan committee.

The committee will submit its recommendations to the political and military leadership within seven days.

The decision to form a committee was taken at an all parties conference which was held in Peshawar on Wednesday to discuss ways to form a strategy to stop terrorist activities and flush out all terrorists from the country.

Meanwhile, the JI Chief Sirajul Haq while talking to media persons in Peshawar on Thursday lauded the formulation of the parliamentary committee to prepare a national action plan to counter terrorism in an effective manner.

Sirajul Haq said that Peshawar tragedy has united all the political forces.
