ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday presided over a meeting of top party leaders to hold consultations on names being considered for the post of President of Pakistan.
According to reports, PML-N is mulling over names of Sartaj Aziz, Mamnoon Hussain, Mehtab Abbasi and Ghaus Ali Shah for the office of the President.
Although the PML-N has already formed its government at the center, it has now begun hunt for a President.
Prime Minister Sharif has expressed his desire to consult other parties for the presidential candidate.
Later, a five-member committee was formed to make contacts with all major political parties in order to reach a consensus for unopposed election of the new president.
The committee comprises of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali, Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and Water and Power Minister Khawaja Asif.
