ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday said present government believed in the dignity of labour and understood that a prosperous workforce could enable them to compete in a globalized market environment.

He said this in a meeting with Minister for Labour and Human Resource Punjab Raja Ashfaq Sarwar who called on him at PM House.

Matters pertaining to the human resource development and ongoing development work in different parts of the province were discussed during the meeting.

The Prime Minister said a huge responsibility lies on the shoulders of the elected representatives for serving the people who have given their mandate and reposed their confidence in the representatives.

He appreciated the performance of the provincial government and praised the provincial ministries in bringing new and effective ideas to fruition in raising the standard of living of the masses as well as enabling them to exercise their capabilities to the fullest.

Expressing his satisfaction over the development works being undertaken in the province, the Prime Minister said that creation of economic activities and generation of employment opportunities in the wake of massive development projects would help a great deal in reducing poverty.

Raja Ashfaq Sarwar lauded the Prime Minister on turning around Pakistan’s economy, launching infrastructure development and energy projects across the country, and generating employment opportunities.

The provincial minister apprised the Prime Minister of the steps being taken by the provincial government for human resource development and enabling the people to realize their potential in diverse fields.
