PML-N denies organized rigging in 2013 elections

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has categorically said that no organized rigging took place in the May 2013 general elections.

In its reply submitted to the three-member judicial commission headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk formed to probe allegations of rigging in the 2013 general elections in Islamabad on Saturday, the PML-N said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has levelled allegations of organized rigging in 2013 elections.

The PML-N that instead of only resorting to sloganeering, the PTI should provide evidences as to how and where the rigging took place. It said that the PTI should also tell as to how the PML-N was involved in the rigging.

The ruling party endorsed the reports of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) which said that no organized rigging took place in the elections and the mandate of national and provincial assembly is absolutely accurate.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) also submit its response as directed by the judicial commission, and said that the PML-N, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the PTI committed rigging by spending over the allocated limit on their election campaigns.

Later, the hearing of the judicial commission was adjourned till April 27.
