ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced a public holiday on Tuesday in connection with “Youm-e-Takbeer” or “Day of Greatness” to remember this significant landmark in Pakistan’s history.

In modification of Cabinet Division’s circular No. 10-02/2023-Min-II dated 20th December, 2023 regarding public and optional holidays for the year 2024, the Prime Minister has been pleased to declare 28th May 2024 (Youm-e-Takbeer) as a public holiday throughout the Country,” read the notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday.PM Shahbaz Sharif announces public holiday on Youm-e-TakbeerYoum-e-Takbeer will be fervently observed on Tuesday in remembrance of nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998 that made the defense of the Country invincible.

The Day made Pakistan the seventh nuclear nation of the world and the first Muslim State having the nuclear arsenal in its defense stockpile to exercise maximum deterrence for peaceful purposes.
