PM Office bugged and Audio Leaks: House Cleaning may start to change...

Islamabad, Pakistan: The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting will review initial reports prepared by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) while probing the unprecedented bugging of Prime Minister House of Pakistan and the audio leaks of conversations held in PM Office.

Multiparty government after assuming power decided to run the government without any massive “House Cleaning” and therefore did not do large-scale transfers of staff that were working with former Prime Minister Imran Khan anywhere in the federal capital including in the PM Secretariat and PM House. Sources claim that Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif was advised by intelligence agencies to get vetting of staff working in federal ministries and related departments and a notification was also released in this regard. However, the process of vetting has never been done according to the procedure.

Important circles are of the view that ISI and IB would present their initial reports before the NSC and House Cleaning in expected at least in PM Secretariat but agencies are of the view that the entire administrative system needs cleaning because there is a possibility that every office of the federal government where important decisions take place is under bugging system.

It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had established a high-powered committee to investigate audio leaks featuring the conversation of the PM with everybody who came to meet him including high-profile government officials.

PM Shabaz Sharif held a press conference on Tuesday and stated that bugging was a serious security lapse and security breach had raised several questions and anyone now knew that PM House is not s safe place.
