ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday held consultations over holding talks with the Taliban as well as over the possible inclusion of JUI-F in the federal cabinet.
The meeting between the two leaders was held in Islamabad on Monday before the premier’s departure to UK. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Information Minister Pervez Rashid were also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the two discussed the issue of talks with the Taliban and the prime minister took the JUI-F chief into confidence on progress in negotiations with the Taliban.
Moreover, discussions were also held to include JUI-F in the federal cabinet.
The sources said the prime minister also took the JUI-F chief in confidence regarding his visit to the United States.
The JUI-F chief said anti-Pakistan elements will try to sabotage the dialogue but the government should foil their designs. He called upon the political leadership to cooperate with the government to make the dialogue a success.
