PM Nawaz, COAS exchange views on Zarb-e-Azb

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House in Islamabad on Monday, and exchanged views on the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb against the militants and the rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons (IDPs).

During the meeting, the COAS informed the prime minister about the operation Zarb-e-Azb and the progress made so far by our valiant armed forces in eliminating terrorists from the motherland.

The prime minister commended the armed forces for the sacrifices given by them in making Pakistan a safer country. He also praised the efforts of Pakistan’s armed forces in providing prompt relief to people affected by recent floods.

The comprehensive rehabilitation strategy for the IDPs of North Waziristan and regional situation in the wake of political changes in Afghanistan also came under discussion during the meeting.

According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
