QUETTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has constituted a task force to maintain law and order in the restive Balochistan province.

The prime minister arrived in Quetta on Tuesday to review the worsening law and order situation in the city. The premier was accompanied by Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai, DG ISI Lt-Gen Zaheerul Islam, the DG Intelligence Bureau (IB), and other top officials.

Addressing a high level meeting in Quetta‚ he directed all the security agencies to ensure close coordination to curb terrorism. He said the federal government will extend all possible assistance to the provincial government in this regard.

On the occasion, the prime minister met with a tribal delegation of the ethnic Hazara community, comprising of the relatives of the victims of recent bombing in Quetta which had targeted the minority community.

The premier directed the law-enforcement agencies to arrest all those involved in carnage in Hazara town. He assured the provision of every possible security measures for the Hazara community.

He said he has directed all the concerned agencies to bring the culprits of Hazara Town tragedy to book. He said every possible protection will be provided to the Hazara community.

The Prime Minister said that restoration of peace is the top priority of the government.
