ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Thursday proposed three names for the position of caretaker prime minister, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

In response to a letter by the Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the Prime Minister proposed names of Dr. Ishrat Husain, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso and Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh for the slot of caretaker PM.

The opposition leader in his letter nominated Justice (retd) Shakirullah Jan, Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bux Palejo for the position of caretaker PM after consulting other opposition parties.

The sources said that consultation between the government and the opposition over the caretaker setup is likely to begin on Thursday (today).

If no consensus emerged on the name of one candidate for the caretaker premiership, then the matter would be referred to the parliamentary committee.
