Petition filed in LHC, seeking disqualification of PM Nawaz under article 62 & 63

LAHORE, Pakistan: A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday, seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif under article 62 and 63 of the constitution for speaking lies on floor of the National Assembly.

The petition was filed by the Insaf lawyers forum, asking the high court to issue the notification to the Election Commission of Pakistan for the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif being a lawmaker from NA-120.

On Friday, Nawaz Sharif said while speaking on the floor of the lower house of the parliament that on the request of both Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri, the Chief of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif asked him to permit meeting with them.

However, later in a message posted on Twitter, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, “[The] COAS was asked by the Govt to play [a] facilitative role for resolution of current impasse, in yesterday’s meeting, at #PM House.”

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation.
