ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has said that the registration of case against the Hurriyat leader Asiya Andrabi reinforces that the people in the Indian-held Kashmir are being subjected to suppression and denied the right to express their views and sentiments.

The Indian police registered a case against the Hurriyat Leader and Chairperson of Dukhtaran Millat Asiya Andrabi on the charge of unfurling Pakistan flag and singing the national anthem on the Pakistan Day in Srinagar.

“While raising of Pakistan flags reflects the sentiments of Kashmiri people and their love for Pakistan, it also reinforces what we already know that Kashmiris in occupied territory are being subjected to suppressive measures,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said when asked to comment on the issue at her weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

“They (Kashmiris) are not allowed to express their views and sentiments. Pakistan has always and will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to their cause,” Aslam said.

The spokesperson said that Jammu & Kashmir is a disputed territory, future of which is to be decided by the people of Jammu & Kashmir through the exercise of free and fair plebiscite as guaranteed to them by the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

In reply to a question, the foreign office spokesperson said that the Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan is confirmed and the dates of the visit will be announced simultaneously in Beijing and Islamabad.

During the visit of the Chinese president, the two countries will review the whole gamut of bilateral relations as well as regional and international matters of common interests, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that during the visit the two countries will also sign some important agreements in order to further cement the friendly and strategic relations.
